Q. What style of wedding photography do you consider to be your strongest?

I have to admit, in over 18 years of wedding photography, much of it has been spent promoting elegant, posed wedding portraiture. That changed in the late 90's with the migration of what I call the west coast society journalist style of photography. Since then I have been amazed at how this style has influenced my approach to covering a wedding event. I credit photojournalism with bringing the excitement back into wedding photography, at least for me. I encourage my brides to consider this "hands off" approach whenever I can, because it lends itself to presenting the day as it truly is.

Q. How many photographs will you take?

I can provide an average number of images for the amount of coverage selected, but in no way do I limit the amount of images we will shoot on the wedding day. We will discuss, in detail, the types of photographs you want, the special people involved and locations available. The day of the wedding you are always welcome to add other photos at any time. Because we photograph only one event each day, additional time is always available if needed.

Q. Is black and white photography included, or would there be an additional charge?

I photograph all images initially in color. You will have the option of having a black & white print made from any of the color images at no additional fee. This process will please those wanting color and black & white from the same image. There is an additional charge for hand-processed black & white photographs, generally around 20% more. These images are usually selectively ordered for display in keepsake frames.

Q. What are your prices?

Our pricing is very flexible, accommodating not only the bride and groom, but orders for family and friends also. Each album is carefully designed around your image selections, including a variety of print sizes and page layouts. Click here to view our current price list.

Q. How long have you been in business?

I began photographing wedding professionally in 1984, after completing my studies at the Ohio Institute of Photography. Weddings have always been my focus, and I have photographed weddings exclusively since 1993. With limited advertising, my business continues to grow thanks to the many referrals from past satisfied clients.

Q. Is photography your full-time business?

Yes! Photography by Steven A. Hutchison is a full-time wedding photography studio.

Q. How do you work with others on the wedding day?

This question seems to be coming up more and more. With the experience we have in over 18 years of photographing weddings, the photography part almost becomes second nature. My first priority is to make sure your day goes smooth. And that means working well with others; family, friends and other professionals. I have been known to pin boutonnieres and bustle dresses. I can answer questions and offer advice. I get along with everybody and in no way feel threatened if your family & friends want to take pictures too!

Q. Where are you located?
